Pre-school Gymnastics

PreGym is a 45 minute, parent assisted - structured program which also incorporates some exploratory play. 

Themes accompany the program to make the learning experience even more enjoyable. Equipment specific to preschool gymnastics and modified Olympic apparatus are used in each session. 

Children learn through repetition therefore, a similar layout and class format is used for two weeks to consolidate skills. Each fortnight, different apparatus and circuits are set up to ensure that children are stimulated by a variety of sources on a regular basis. 

The program is carefully designed by all instructors to ensure that motor, cognitive, social and emotional learning occurs in an enjoyable way. All classes aim to develop basic co-ordination, balance, spatial and body awareness in an environment that promotes socialization.

Educational Pathway

  

The Casey Gymnastics Educational Pathway provides an opportunity for children of all ages to participate in gymnastics. The age based programs allow children to experience gymnastics with their peers in a fun, progressive and inclusive environment.

Gymnasts will work through all apparatus of artistic gymnastics within their class including floor, vault, bars, rings, p-bars and beam. 

KinderFun – ideal for 4-5 year olds (attending Kindergarten) 

Starting as an introduction to gymnastics, KinderFun classes develop confidence, body awareness, basic body shapes and promotes listening, class discipline and safety skills. 

GymBasics – ideal for 5-6 year olds

GymFun – ideal for 7-8 year olds

GymSkills – ideal for 9-11 year old

GymSkills Advanced– for various ages after successful completion of GymSkills.

All classes are programmed following the Casey Gymnastics Educational Curriculum with Bronze, Silver and Gold Stages of achievement.

Progression Pathway

  

DEVELOPMENT (Competition preparation class)

The Development program is a 3hr commitment each week. The program is invite only for gymnasts who have demonstrated determination, increased skill development and levels of strength and flexibility that is required for full body control. 

The program focuses on technique correction and fundamental skills required in competitive gymnastics. The development programs aims to aid gymnasts in their journey to moving to a competitive program in the future.

This development squad is important to teach gymnasts the fundamentals of key skills and body shapes, build strength, increase flexibility, and develop body control and spatial awareness. The program also works to create a willingness to learn while introducing competition etiquette and respect for the sport and those involved at all levels.

Junior Development is also available for children under the age of 6 – this program is 1.5 hours per week.


GYMSTAR (CHALLENGE)

The Gymstar Challenge program focuses on developing a gymnast’s technique and skills required in competitive gymnastics. The development programs aims to aid gymnasts in their journey through the Gymnastics Victoria Gymstar levels. 

This program allows gymnasts to develop the fundamental key skills and body shapes, build strength, increase flexibility, and develop body control and spatial awareness. The program enables gymnasts to advance to a higher skill level in a fun and relaxed environment. The program also works to create a willingness to learn while introducing competition etiquette and respect for the sport and those involved at all levels.

Gymnasts in the Gymstar Challenge program are offered competitive opportunities both externally and internally throughout the year.


GYMSTAR (COMPETITION) 

This is a competitive program that provides the gymnast with the opportunity to grow their gymnastics skills and focus strongly on their technique and execution including acrobatic movements and aerial awareness. 

Throughout the year Gymstar hold competitions for gymnasts to enter. Gymstar Competitions focus on participation and teamwork, as well as individual and team achievements and skill development. Gymnasts will attend a minimum number of competitions a year as a part of their commitment to the program. Positions in the program are by invitation only.


AUSTRALIAN LEVELS PROGRAM 

The Australian Levels Program (ALP) is the national stream for competitive gymnastic which focuses on compulsory routines provided by gymnastics Australia.

ALP maintains an emphasis on technique and fundamentals of gymnastics.

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) focuses on 4 apparatus which are vault, bars, beam and floor. 

Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) focuses on 6 apparatus which are floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar. 

Gymnasts will attend a minimum number of competitions a year as a part of their commitment to the program. Positions in the program are by invitation only.

Teen and Adult Gymnastics

TEEN GYMNASTICS

Teen Gymnastics Classes are a 90 minute program available to anyone over the age of 12 wanting to do gymnastics. Beginners are welcome and highly encouraged to join. 

No matter what age you commence gymnastics, the benefits include increased balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, and so much more. 

All Teen Classes work within a set YMCA Gymnastics curriculum as participants strive to successfully demonstrate skills and activities across 10 key gymnastics areas.


ADULT GYMNASTICS

Adult Gymnastics is a casual 90 minute class under the supervision of a fully qualified gymnastics coach. Adult Gymnastics is a perfect introduction for those who are:

· New to gymnastics

· Wishing to work on strength and fitness in a new environment

· Dancers looking to up skill

· Those interested in Parkour

· Ex gymnasts looking to regain some skills

Sessions are available at all 3 venues.

Monday – Berwick

Tuesday – Cranbourne

Wednesday – Endeavour Hills

Access All Abilities Gymnastics

Casey Gymnastics is committed to creating a truly inclusive environment and offers a range of gymnastics classes for people with mental and physical disabilities.

The aim of the All Access classes are to remove the barriers inclusive groups may face, and ensure nobody is denied access to the sport of gymnastics, regardless of their ability.

We have developed a gymnastics program that accommodates for many types of students from those with learning needs, congenital disorders, to visual impairments and those who have anxiety or require additional social assistance in a personalised setting.

Coaches will work with the participant and parent/care giver to determine goals and how to best service their individual needs. These tailor made sessions can be either one-on-one sessions or small group classes.

Trampoline Sports

  

Trampolining classes involve learning a variety of skills and acrobatics. Kids learn using our Goliath trampoline, double mini trampoline as well as the floor space to develop strength and correct body alignment. 

Children from the ages of five years are welcome to try our trampolining program, which offers both beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Our Trampolining Program compliments the skills learned and developed through our recreational gymnastics program.

*The Trampolining program operates from the Berwick venue only.
